Day 2 found us off to a late start. Despite that, we were determined to find a good coffee/breakfast place. We ended up at a cute little cafe, where I had some of the best coffee yet.

Steph and I took turns reading pages out of a nearby Dr. Seuss book, because why not? Then, we headed over to Sagrada Familia again, only to find the line was impossibly long. We decided the line wasn’t worth it, and planned to buy our tickets online and just go the next day.

Instead, we decided to spend the day checking out some Gaudí, and then some local shops. Our first stop was Casa Batlló.

I have this need to see main attractions at least twice – once during the day and once at night. So that’s exactly what we did with both Casa Batlló and Casa Mila (better known as La Pedrera).

Next, we hit up Las Ramblas to find some local shops. While there were some market stalls on the street, most of the stores nearby were geared toward tourists. We were not having any of that!

So, we kept turning down side streets until eventually we found a local flea market – JACKPOT! I ended up buying a couple bracelets and a super cute, nautical blazer. It took a lot of effort not to buy all the earrings (I had already bought some at Parc Guell).

Our shopping done, we headed to a top-ranked vegan restaurant called Juicy Jones. All you need to know about this place is that they have hummus. Generous portions of it. In my book, that’s enough reason to go.

By the time we dropped our stuff off at the hostel, night was falling. Not ready for the day to be over, we went out for a walk through the nearby park behind the Arc de Triomf.

We ended up walking all the way to the beach! This night trip to the beach was, indubitably, the absolute highlight of my trip. An experience that calming and beautiful is just so personal, I don’t have much I can share about it besides these pictures.

After a couple hours at the beach, we headed back to Casa Batlló and Casa Mila for the night views. Then we wandered back to the hostel for our last night.
